Reynards Mills Planning Application - It's Back Again

Public exhibition of new plans Wed 13th and Thurs 14th June

Campaigners against a major housing development on the Ealing/ Brentford border are urging all residents to attend a public exhibition arranged by the developer.

There have been major concerns that the development was far too large and out of character with the area and the huge influx of new residents would lead to more traffic problems on both Windmill Road and local side streets.

The previous plans were rejected by Hounslow Council on the grounds that the density and size of the development would be harmful to the outlook and character of the area.

Now the company, Invista Real Estate, has produced new proposals for the site - which see a reduction from 275 to 230 units.

If it gets approval, hundreds more residents will be housed in a combination of hi-rise blocks and houses, in the former low-rise business park.

The plans will be on display at St Faith's Church, Windmill Road next week.

Wednesday 13th June from 4pm - 9pm and Thursday 14th June 12noon - 7pm.

Campaigners from the Windmill Residents Action Group (WRAG) say it's crucial that everyone makes their views known.

They say:

The key question is: is it acceptable or is it still too much for this site and the surrounding area?

You may wish to comment on:

• ·      the height of the proposed tower blocks compared to the height of the immediately surrounding housing and the height of the existing buildings on the Reynard Mills site.
• ·      the number of proposed flats and houses compared to the density of houses and flats in the immediately surrounding area.
• ·      how the proposed heights and design compares to recent local developments including the new four storey flats beside The Globe and the flats in Boston Lodge beside the northern entrance to Reynard Mills.  Also, the nearest part of the Paragon development behind the vicarage is only four storeys high!
• ·      The proposed mix of family versus smaller flats.
• ·      Increased traffic and parking pressures on Windmill road and the surrounding side streets.  Any increase in these pressures will be a direct consequence of the number of flats and houses on the Reynard Mills site.  So it’s vital to also comment on the causes of the increased traffic and parking pressures.
• ·      The loss of all employment uses on the Reynard Mills site.

In summary, WRAG say the exhibition is a critical stage in the process and it’s vital that as many local residents as possible go along and submit comprehensive comments.
