£80,000 spent as part of the Acton Liveability Project
Ealing Council will be formally opening the new playground in Southfields Recreation Ground on Monday, 8th August.
The new playground is located in the centre of the park and caters for the two to 14 age group.
It provides two distinct play areas, one for toddlers and one for juniors, and features the latest in adventure trails with spinning poles, climbing frames, springers, slides, see-saws and swings.
Parents are also catered for with new picnic tables and seats, all within a contoured landscaped setting, partially surrounded by large trees which will ensure summer shade.
Cabinet member for Streets and Environment and Acton Central Ward Councillor, John Delaney, will officially open the playground at 2pm, with the fun and activities continuing until 4pm.
Councillor Delaney said: "This is a great new facility for the local community and I hope that it becomes a much-loved and well-used part of the park.
"£80,000 has been invested so far to install the new playground and residents can look forward to further improvements later this year when the tennis courts are refurbished."
The new playground replaces the existing facilities in the north-east corner of the park which have now been removed.
All Acton residents are invited to the official opening next Monday, August 8th, between 2 and 4 pm. Games will be run throughout the opening and refreshments will be provided.
Access to the recreation ground is from Southfield Road or the footpath via Mansell Road.
