Green Light For Gunnersbury Park

Licence allowing community and family events approved

A licence allowing community and family events at Gunnersbury Park has been approved.

The decision by Hounslow Council’s Licensing Panel on June 12 means a wide-range of community and family-orientated events, including plays, films, live music, and other types of performance can take place in the borough’s flagship park.

Members of the licensing panel considered representations from more than 100 interested parties before making their decision.

They agreed events can take place between May 1 and 30 September, between December 1 and January 21, and on St George’s Day. Events on bank holidays are allowed as long as the date falls within these two periods. The hours of operation will be 10am to 9pm.

While a licence now exists for this venue, all potential events must satisfy another process before they can take place.

Community events, carnivals and small-scale events (under 500 people attending) can be held at the discretion of the park’s new Management Committee.

Medium-scale events, with less than 5000 people expected, can take place a maximum of three times in one year, but must be part of an approved programme.

Large-scale events - with more than 5000 people expected - can take place a maximum of two times in one year, but must be part of an approved events programme and have a separate consultation process.

Restrictions put in place by the Licensing Panel include;

• No more than one event per calendar month.
• There must be a period of 21 days between any two events.
• There must be a period of 60 days between any two large events.
• Small and medium events may last a maximum of 2 days and large events may last a maximum of one day only.
