Riverside Artists Group to Hold New Exhibition
Collage being used to illustrate the theme of 'Borders'

A new exhibition from the Riverside Artists Group is to be held this November.
From Sunday 12 November to Thursday 23 November work by the group will be on display at the Polish Social and Cultural Association (POSK) on King Street in Hammersmith from 10am to 5pm. There will be a private view on Thursday 16 November from 6-8pm.
31 artists, including four new members, will be showing their work in the group’s annual exhibition which this year is on the theme of ‘Borders’ examining the boundaries, edges and divisions in our lives using the methods of collage to juxtapose both materials and concepts.
‘Collage’, from the French word coller, to glue or stick together, implying an assemblage, a bringing together of disparate things, whether of ideas or materials. Modern collage began with Picasso and Braques in 1912, Henri Matisse referred to collage as “drawing with scissors”.
Designed by John Potter (ex-RA exhibitions), ‘Borders’ includes paint, works on paper, assemblage, digital and sculpture.

RAG was formed in 1986 at Riverside Studios, Hammersmith. It followed an open submission exhibition to which there was such a large response that a meeting was organise which led to the formation of a group, comprising established and emerging artists, came together.
Many members exhibit nationally and internationally, some recent exhibitions and publications include Peter Blegvad ‘Milk, Through a Glass Darkly’ pb @uniform books; Chloe Fremantle RWS, solo at Carey Blyth Oxford; Grazyna Cydzik selected RA Summer show); and Josie Deighton first solo show at The Crypt Gallery.
RAG’s aim is to encourage and promote the interaction and practice of a diverse group of visual artists living or working in West London. It provides a network for an exchange of ideas and information. Members initiate and develop projects and exhibit in both self-selected and curated
shows.
