Fundraiser at Watermans for the local Labour Party
Brentford's Watermans Theatre is holding the first 'Let's laugh at the coalition' comedy night on Sunday 23 October.
The comedy night is the idea of local Syon estate resident Crispin Flintoff, a former runner up in the prestigious Hackney Empire New Acts of the Year competition.
Crispin, 41, has brought together a number of up and coming comedians who are all keen to put a humorous slant on what is a depressing economic and political situation.
'Some of the acts are well-established (such as Prince Abdi), but have material that is not often heard in mainstream comedy clubs. This night will give them an opportunity to let them express their anger at what the government is doing. The main theme is don't let the b***ers get you down.'
All the proceeds from the night will go to the local Labour Party branch and tickets are priced at £10 for waged and £8 for concessions. The adjoining restaurant at the Watermans is also getting in on the act, providing a curry for only £5 extra.
For tickets, call the Watermans on 0208 232 1010.
