Big Dance Weekender at the Watermans

Four Days of Dance for all

Watermans

Watermans BIG DANCE WEEKENDER 11-14 July. This is the first of the new Watermans Weekenders which are the new format for the performing arts programme. Watermans are really excited about this new approach because it is quite innovative and should play to people's growing interest in getting involved in art and culture and venues, rather than just expecting to be entertained.

Highlights are:

  • Dance Cabaret on Friday and Saturday. This is the latest way to the sample dance, with four short pieces from different artists with different styles hosted by Jay Kumar
  • Kaavish by Sonia Sabri in the theatre on Thursday
  • Family entertainment with DJ Monski Mouse's Baby Disco Dance Hall who is currently performing on the Southbank, on Sunday afternoon
  • Then Geraldine Pilgrim will be performing her ridiculously satirical HANDBAG with a local cast on Sunday evening

At the end of each evening there will be free films on the terrace including Moulin Rouge, Saturday Night Fever and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Tickets for events can be bought individually and there are also special all-day ticket prices. And to make life easier the car parking charges will be suspended on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

We have been delighted by the response to our request for people to play a part in performances of Handbag here at Watermans on Sunday 14 July (Part of our Big Dance Weekender). Over 20 people have already put themselves forward but we'd still like a few more, particularly men.

Interested people should contact our Box Office on 020 8232 1010 and leave their name. They must be over 16 years and available to rehearse on Sunday 7th July, one evening during the following week and on the morning of Sunday 14 July before performing in late afternoon and evening.
