Web-based poetry competition celebrates West London life
A web-based poetry competition celebrating London life will be taking place as part of the westwords festival, with the first prize of a residential course at the renowned Avon Foundation.
The theme of the competition is London life and the acclaimed poet Cicely Herbert from ‘Poems on the underground’ will judge the entries that need to be submitted by 30 April 2006.
Application forms are available from the Westwords box office on 020 8428 0124 and can also be downloaded from www.westwords.
Entrants must be over the age of 16, and live in one of the eight westwords boroughs (Harrow, Hillingdon, The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham, City of Westminster, Ealing, Hounslow and Brent).
Westwords, is a literature festival celebrating the written and spoken word taking place among eight west London boroughs, with Harrow being the lead borough, throughout March and April 2006. A wide range of exciting events will be taking place including book readings, visits from authors, poetry, workshops, discussions and performances.
