Free film screening in Chiswick 'Jaffa - the Orange's Clockwork'

Screening of acclaimed documentary by Israeli director Eyal Sivan

Jaffa: The Orange's Clockwork

This award-winning film narrates the visual history of the famous citrus fruit that originated from Palestine and known worldwide for centuries as "Jaffa oranges". The history of the orange is the history of this land.

Jaffa’s orange is one of the symbols that helped build the Zionist discourse about Palestine: a “desert we have made bloom”.

For Palestinians however, it holds a very different sentiment, and represents a powerful symbol of the loss and destruction of their land.

This 90' version of the film made for TV is being shown to mark Nakba Day when Palestinians remember the dispossession of their land and homes by Israel in 1948. There will be a short discussion after with a Palestinian speaker.
