Rave Reception for Locally Made Film at Moscow Festival

Delirium by Gareth Jones and Fiona Howe holds its World Premiere

A work by two local filmmakers is has had its World Premiere at the 2017 Moscow Film Festival, where it screened to a packed house and a standing ovation.

Starring Clare Grogan, Timothy West and Mamta Kaash, alongside director Gareth Jones and cellist Alisa Liubarskaya, Delirium tells the story of a composer struggling to complete his master work while fending off secrets about his past.

Jones and his wife, Fiona Howe, producer and composer, previously lived in Chiswick and currently live in Acton, several people involved in the production of the films are locally based.

The film features many musicians in acting roles, among them distinguished Acton-based pianist/conductor Julian Gallant, impresaria Olga Balakleets, Ealing-based soprano Alison Rayner, and a starring cameo by young virtuoso John Gallant.

It is the third film of the D-trilogy, which narrates the story of a composer as he struggles to write a Requiem for his college centenary. The trilogy was shot and produced by Scenario Films, an Acton-based company, with no public support or state subsidy. Gareth Jones has explained that it is perhaps owing to the advanced state of technology today that high-level feature film has become almost affordable for the very first time.

The UK première is this Saturday 8th July, 6pm, at the Odeon Panton Street, near Leicester Square.
