Nine Electric Vehicle Charging Points Are Now Live

Six added this week across borough and ten more in pipeline

The remaining sites in the first phase of Hammersmith & Fulham’s new electric vehicle charging points have gone live this week.

The full list of sites now available is as follows:

Du Cane Road, Gayford Road, Brook Green, Standish Road, Black's Road, Wolverton Gardens, Thaxton Road, Farm Lane, Parson's Green.

Sites coming soon are:

Dorando Close, Caxton Road, North End Road, Winslow Road, Bayonne Road, Edith Row, Stevenage Road, Waldemar Avenue, Ranelagh Gardens, Peterborough Road.

Future sites include:

Hammersmith Grove, Glenthorne Road, Nigel Playfair Avenue

H&F Council says it aims to transform the borough by improving air quality and driving-down harmful emissions. The introduction of the new charging bays which promote use of plug-in hybrids and fully electric vehicles are just one element of these plans.

A special community education event was held at Brook Green on April 6  - the site of one of the new charging bays - where residents and businesses were invited to come and find out more about the charging points and electric vehicles.

" As more residents take up use of greener vehicles we are determined to provide a comprehensive network of charging bays to make using them easy and encourage further uptake," said Cllr Wesley Harcourt, H&F Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Transport and Residents' Services.

"We aim to make H&F a much healthier and greener borough, and this is an example of how we are working with residents to do that."

" More residents using electric cars will help to reduce CO2, NOx and particulate matter emissions that have detrimental effects on health and the environment."

The new charging points in H&F are being operated by Source London, whose network spans the whole of London and so offers users one solution for electric vehicle charging across the capital. Residents can simply subscribe to the scheme online and then use the network’s charging points anywhere in the capital.

H&F Council’s electric vehicle charging service allows residents and visitors alike to use the facilities, in turn supporting and encouraging use of low and zero emission vehicles within the borough.

Any member of the Source London group can access the charging points which are located next to designate bays. There are at least two charging bays at each location in order to ensure users can find a free space to charge.

The council says by 2017 the borough will have 80 parking bays which means residents will have access to, on average, a charging point for every square kilometre of the borough.
