Hard work pays off as new standards are set
Schools in the area are celebrating after achieving their best ever set of GCSE results.
Delighted students across the borough achieved a 5% rise in grades A*-C, along with a 4% rise in grades A*-C with English and maths.
The figure for pupils gaining five or more A* - C grades in all subjects is 13%, higher than 2010’s national average and 10% higher when English and maths are included.
Among the large number of schools which improved results on last year in the category five A* - C, special mention should be made of Brentford School for Girls which increased its figures by 14% and Chiswick Community School with a rise of 12%.
St Mark’s Catholic School built on last year’s impressive results with 84% of pupils gaining five or more A* - C grades including English and maths. This is a record for Hounslow.
