Deadline Looms for Primary School Admissions

Forms need to be submitted by Monday for children starting this September

Deadline Looms for Primary School Admissions

The deadline for applications for admissions to primary school and those transferring to junior school in the London Borough of Hounslow is Monday 15 January. To apply visit the Council’s admissions page.

Children born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014 should start primary school in September 2018. Children start school in the September of the school year in which they will become 5 years of age, which means most children are 4 years old when they start school.

Those children born between 1 September 2010 and 31 August 2011 and currently in Year 2 at an infant’s school, should also complete their online application to transfer to junior school.

Councillor Tom Bruce, cabinet member for children and young people, said: “Applications received after the deadline of 15 January will only be dealt with once those which were received on time have been processed. I would urge parents not to miss the deadline because they are reducing the chances of their child being offered a place at their preferred school.”

“I would also urge parents to use all their preferences of schools on the application form. It’s not a good idea to only list your first choice of school because many schools do not have places for everyone who applies to them. We therefore need to know where else you might like your child to attend.”
