Local charity Café Together is planning to launch at two new sites this month following a successful run at Hounslow Methodist Church.

The charity, which provides free meals, company and assistance to people who need a little help, will be open at St Michael’s Church in Chiswick (W4 3DZ) on Monday evenings from 9 January at 6:30pm, and St John’s Church in Isleworth (TW7 6NY) on Wednesday evenings from 11 January, also at 6:30pm.

Café Together is part of The Shelter Project Hounslow (TSPH); a collective of west London churches that originally came together in January 2012 to provide respite care for rough sleepers over the harshest months of the winter. Today, the charity provides free meals, company and assistance to people who need help, whether they are facing homelessness, struggling with finances, loneliness or any other challenges.

In addition to a warm meal and the opportunity to have a friendly chat with the Café Together team, local councillors and council officers will also be present at events to help offer practical advice to those in need.

“Following a successful run at Hounslow Methodist Church, we are delighted that St Michael’s in Chiswick and St John’s in Isleworth have both agreed to host Café Together suppers,” said Jennifer Corbin, Chairman of the Hounslow Shelter Project. “Loneliness, financial worries and rough sleeping are still a major concern to far too many, and our aim to help those who need support, either with a free warm meal and friendly chat or by offering more practical advice on local services available to them. We look forward to welcoming guests on Monday and Wednesday evenings from the 9 January at these two churches, whatever challenges they may be facing.”

The Shelter Project Hounslow launched Café Together in June 2022 to support those in the local community who need comfort, support or help. Pre-Covid, The Shelter Project Hounslow ran night shelters for homeless men in west London but, with new legislation for local councils and evolving needs within the community, the charity has now adapted to work alongside other agencies and charities in signposting guests to additional support, whatever challenges they may be facing.

Café Together will be open for guests in Chiswick at St Michael’s Church, Elmwood Road (W4 3DZ) on Monday evenings from 9 January to the 27 February between 6:30pm and 8:30pm.

In addition, it will be open for guests in Isleworth at St John’s Church, St John’s Road (TW7 6NY) on Wednesday evenings from 11 January to the 22 February between 6:30pm and 8:30pm.
