Hounslow Planning Goes Online

Council rolls out new electronic document record management system

People will soon be able to log on and look at planning applications online, as Hounslow Council rolls out a new electronic document record management (EDRM) system.

This new online facility is being introduced in the planning department, and means that there is no longer any need to make an appointment and come in to the Civic Centre to view current planning applications.

Cllr Mark Bowen, said, “Many people are interested in the planning process for a wide variety of reasons. They could be responding to a consultation, doing a legal search before buying a house, checking what work may have been done on their property, or simply finding out more information on developments in their area.

“By having the information available online, it makes it much more convenient, and means that people don’t have to take precious time out of their day to make an appointment or make a special trip to the Civic Centre or local library to view the plans.”

From this month, all forms, plans and supporting documents received since January 2009 will be available online at www.hounslow.gov.uk/planning. In addition, every decision notice the Council has issued - which gives details of the decision as well as any conditions that might be attached to the decision - will also be available on the website.

As the system is rolled out, all the planning applications received in the last five years will gradually be added, so that interested parties can view applications from 2004 onwards by logging on.
