Help To Get Buyers On The Housing Ladder

Information Event on October 30th 1-7pm

With many people still struggling to get onto the property ladder a special free information event to promote low-cost housing opportunities will take place in the ground floor annex of Hounslow’s Civic Centre on October 30, between 1pm and 7pm.

As part of our promise to bring more affordable homes into the borough, the council is working with a range of housing organisations to ensure that a number of new apartments and houses are put aside for those on low incomes. Representatives from these organisations will be on hand to showcase their new developments.

In addition there are already a number of schemes available in the borough to help those who are on moderate incomes take the first step onto the property ladder. The council also supports schemes especially for people who are currently in social housing.

Cllr Jon Hardy, the council’s executive member for housing said:

“The main purpose of this event is to make home ownership affordable for key workers and those considered to be in housing need.

“While house prices in London are rising, we want to reassure people that this does not necessarily disqualify them from buying their first home in the borough. We work with other agencies to fund a range of support for people on a moderate income.

“So residents who are in employment and keen to own a home of their own should come along and find out how they can get their first foot on the ladder.”

At the event, people will get an opportunity to see;

• New homes that have been recently built in towns across the borough and how to get hold of one.

• How to arrange a mortgage and find out answers to other financial questions.

• Lots of schemes operated by the council and the government designed to help people take their first steps onto the housing ladder.

Hounslow is the gateway to London with excellent transport links, exceptional public services, beautiful parks and green spaces, flourishing schools, first-class leisure and cultural facilities, and developing town centres.
