LBH's plan to deliver 0% increase will be set out next week
Plans to deliver the fourth consecutive year with no increase in council tax for Hounslow residents will be set out next week.
Cllr Peter Thompson, leader of the council, will be presenting a report on spending plans for the next financial year at Borough Council on Tuesday, 24 November.
This is the first time the council has been able to set out spending plans so far in advance of the final decision, and allows a longer period of consultation with residents, local businesses and councillors over the proposals.
Cllr Thompson said, "These proposals set out how we could become one of only a few authorities in the country that have been able to freeze council tax for so long.
"Over the last three years we have been reducing bureaucracy and improving efficiency to keep the level of council tax down. At the same time we’ve been working hard to improve the levels of service we provide, and deliver on the promises we made to residents."
The plans will be outlined at a meeting of the full council, after which consultation on the proposals will begin. This will include feedback from residents via the residents’ panel, and input from the council’s scrutiny committee.
The final decision on the level of council tax will be made at a meeting on 2 March, 2010.
