Keeping Boredom At Bay During School Hols

Summer activities for families in Hounslow Council's Directory

Help is on hand for local families looking for ways to keep the kids busy this summer.

Hounslow council’s Family Service Directory lists hundreds of activities for children and young people in the borough to enjoy during the holidays – from local play schemes to climbing in Snowdonia.

The directory was launched last year and has already seen more than 100,000 visits from people looking for activities and things to do for children, young people and families in the borough.

Cllr Lily Bath, cabinet member for children’s services at the council, said: “There’s so much going on for children and young people in the borough, but some people can find it difficult to find things to keep boredom at bay.

“The Family Service Directory is a one stop shop for parents and young people where a range of local organisations list the activities they are running.

“The summer holidays are an obvious time when parents are looking for things to do, but it also lists activities running throughout the year, so people can always find fun things to do.”

Activities on offer this summer include:

  • holiday play schemes
  • open air cinema screening
  • dance workshops
  • football camps
  • urban ambush at the waterman's: car park painting, music-making, street dance and other fun activities for young people
  • climb Snowdonia challenge
