Hounslow Council has announced the appointment of a new Finance Director.

It has taken on Jake Bacchus as Executive Director of Finance and Resources. He will be joining Hounslow Council from Westminster City Council where he has been Director of Finance for three years.

The role became vacant following the departure of Clive Palfreyman who left earlier in the year to join Southwark Council as Strategic Director of Finance having been with Hounslow Council for nearly 12 years..

The position was advertised at a salary of up to £180,000.

In his current role, Mr Bacchus is also Chief Financial Officer for the Council’s housing company. He’s led on several projects including the council’s £2.5billion capital programme and implementing a ‘green bond’ in Westminster, inviting residents and businesses to contribute to the City’s Net Zero ambition, the Oxford Street redevelopment and delivering fully electric, zero-emission waste collection vehicles.

Leader of Hounslow Council, Councillor Shantanu Rajawat said, “We are delighted to welcome Jake to the Council. There has never been a more challenging time for local government finances and having the best people for the job is crucial to ensuring we continue to deliver effectively for our residents. Jake joining us is a testament to our work as a leading Council in London and I look forward to working closely alongside him.”

Chief Executive, Niall Bolger, added, “Jake’s expertise and brilliant financial stewardship, alongside his passion for public sector, is well suited to this important role at Hounslow. I am confident he will be a great asset to our organisation as we progress the implementation of our Corporate Strategy – Ambitious for Hounslow and Delivery Plan.”
