Hounslow Borough CCTV Operator Strike Called Off
Staff end dispute over unsettled pay claim

A strike by CCTV operators in the Borough of Hounslow has been called off.
The staff, who work from the Trimmer Centre in Brentford, support the Housing, Community Safety and Traffic Enforcement services. The CCTV Hub operates 7 days a week, with extended cover from early mornings until late at night.
Their union, Unite, had announced that they were to take industrial action from 2 September to 21 September, with further dates set to be scheduled if the dispute was not resolved.
They were unhappy that a pay claim for last year was not settled after their contracts were transferred from Serco to NSL in December 2023.
Although pay, terms and conditions remained the same, Unite said that, since the transfer, the original claim has become the responsibility of NSK and Hounslow Council.
On Friday 30 August, Hounslow council and NSL put forward an offer and industrial action was suspended.
Following acceptance of the deal by the workers, which will see them receive back pay from April 2023 to November 2023, all strikes have now been called off.
The industrial action would have led to reduced enforcement of traffic regulations and monitoring of public safety on the borough’s housing estates and crime hotspots.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said, “By being prepared to strike, NSL’s Hounslow CCTV operators forced the council and their new employer to take responsibility and settle their 2023 pay claim.”
