Hounslow Council looking for nominations of people and organisations in the borough who go above and beyond to support their communities.

Last year’s One Hounslow Community Awards saw 171 nominations for 92 individuals and organisations. The 2025 awards will once again shine a light on residents, community groups and local businesses who inspire others.

Whether it’s a young person improving their neighbourhood, a local business giving back, or somebody gifting their time to volunteer or care, the council wants to know.

Nominations are now open and although there are no set categories to use when nominating an individual or organisation, themes are suggested to help guide people:

  • Community & Neighbourhood, people who create strong community spirit.
  • Green, individuals or groups driving positive environmental change in their neighbourhood.
  • Social Enterprise, local businesses that support the community beyond their day-to-day work.
  • Young Leader, those under 25-years-old making a real impact.
  • Arts & Culture, creative individuals or organisations enriching lives through cultural activities and inclusion.

Cllr Shantanu Rajawat, Leader of Hounslow Council, said, “Our One Hounslow Community Awards are a highlight of the year, a moment to pause and celebrate the generosity, passion and commitment of those who make Hounslow such a special place.

“I encourage everyone to think about the people or organisations who’ve had a positive impact on their life, or the lives of others, and put them forward for an award. We especially want to hear about those unsung heroes who do so much without ever asking for thanks – this is your chance to give them the recognition they deserve.”

The awards event will take place on Wednesday 24 September, at Hounslow House. Around 25 winners will be selected by a judging panel and invited to attend with their guests, for an evening of celebration. Each winner will receive an engraved trophy and certificate, with their stories shared on the night.

Nominations are now open at www.hounslow.gov.uk/communitystars

Like Reading Articles Like This? Help Us Produce More

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We've always done that and won't be changing, in fact we'd like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.

We are therefore asking our readers to consider offering financial support to these efforts. Any money given will help support community and public interest news and the expansion of our coverage in this area.

A suggested monthly payment is £8 but we would be grateful for any amount for instance if you think this site offers the equivalent value of a subscription to a daily printed newspaper you may wish to consider £20 per month. If neither of these amounts is suitable for you then contact info@neighbournet.com and we can set up an alternative. All payments are made through a secure web site.

One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute.

If you do support us in this way we'd be interested to hear what kind of articles you would like to see more of on the site – send your suggestions to the editor.

For businesses we offer the chance to be a corporate sponsor of community content on the site. For £30 plus VAT per month you will be the designated sponsor of at least one article a month with your logo appearing if supplied. If there is a specific community group or initiative you'd like to support we can make sure your sponsorship is featured on related content for a one off payment of £50 plus VAT. All payments are made through a secure web site.
