Initiatives to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour
Not In My Neighbourhood Week will address issues such as motor vehicle crime, burglary and firework safety.
The initiative will see officers from the council and local police working together to address concerns of local people.
Cllr Paul Fisher, lead member for community safety at the council, said, “We want to show people that we are working with the police to tackle the priorities that they have identified, such as car crime and theft.
“It’s also a chance for us to engage with people to help reduce antisocial behaviour that can have such a big impact on the quality of life of local residents.”
Acting superintendent Andy Morgan said, “We want the law-abiding majority to enjoy this autumn’s festivities without their entertainment being spoilt by a small number of troublemakers.
“There will be an increase in police activity to deter anti-social behaviour, disorder and crime during this busy time. All 20 Safer Neighbourhood Teams will have staff on duty to support a large-scale policing operation on the evening of 31st October.”
The week begins early with community involvement stall on Brentford High Street on 31 October between 2-4pm . This will give people the chance to get advice about home safety and security, fire safety, fireworks safety, community safety advice and also will be handing out information about CSV - .
Monday 2 November will see an information stall at Chiswick railway station where police, council, fire and health services will give advice on safety issues. Residents will also be given the chance to register on crime info messaging service Ringmaster and property registering service Immobilise.
The information stall will then move to Chiswick High Road on Tuesday 3 November, and there people will also be able to get advice on car crime at the Premier Inn & Ferry Quays Car Park, Brentford from 6 to 9pm.
Wednesday will see the TASHA drugs advice bus arrive in Netley Parade, Brentford, from 14.00 to 16.00. People will also be give the chance to get free fitting of security bolts to secure their number plates at Tesco on Syon Lane from 10am to 4pm, and will be joined by the fire service from 11am to 1pm.
On Thursday 5th November the Isleworth Safer Neighbourhood Team will have a stall outside the Bridgelink Centre, Summerwood Road, between 11am and 1pm and will be joined by the London Fire Brigade and a Fire Engine. We will be providing advice on home safety and security, fire and firework safety. The London Probation Community Payback Team will also be working with the Isleworth Safer Neighbourhood Team on the Worton Road Estate from 10am to 12pm to clear rubbish and cut back overgrown shrubs. This is part of an ongoing initiative to combat Antisocial Behaviour and littering in the area
Throughout the week there will be checks of crime hot spots and retailers will be visited to offer advice on selling fireworks.
