October 11, 2024

An independent group of professionals that offers advice on major development proposals, regeneration programmes and design policies in Hounslow borough has been increased in size.

Thirteen new members from fields across the built environment sector have joined the Hounslow Design Review Panel (HDRP).

Many of the new panel members have personal and professional connections to Hounslow, broadening and strengthening the panel’s connection to local communities.

Its members, who come from a variety of disciplines, including architecture, town planning, urban design, landscape and sustainability, will play role in maintaining standards of design across the borough.

The borough is seeing an increasing demand for development and the HRDP plays a role in supporting the planning team in embedding good design practices.

The HDRP meets every month, with members scrutinising a selection of planning applications, looking at aspects such as the scale of the development, the site and any local issues surrounding it.

New panel member Svinder Singh of Singh, Fudge Architects, said, "As a former Hounslow resident with much of my extended family still living in the borough, I feel a deep sense of pride and responsibility in contributing to its future growth. Being part of this panel is a valuable opportunity to help shape a community that celebrates its rich heritage while embracing its dynamic and evolving future."

The Panel will work to improve outcomes for the people and communities, developers, design teams, planning officers, and the Council’s Planning Committee.

Hounslow Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Assets, Regeneration and Development, Cllr Tom Bruce said,
“The Design Review Panel is crucial to ensuring that new developments in Hounslow are of the highest design quality, contributing to a better environment for everyone who lives, works, and visits the borough. We welcome the new members joining the panel and are confident that their expertise will help raise the bar and set new standards for design excellence in Hounslow’s built environment. I look forward to seeing the positive impact their input will have on our community.”
