Roll up! Roll up! Family fun at Hounslow Community Fair

A bit of everything for everyone to enjoy

There’ll be all the fun of the fair at Lampton Park on Saturday 22 September when the council hosts a unique community fair showcasing everything the borough has to offer.

Leader of Hounslow Council, Cllr Jagdish Sharma, said:“It’s the grand finale of a unique and memorable summer which saw everything from the Thames Pageant and local street parties to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee, to sporting excellence at the Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as many free events across the borough to mark the Cultural Olympiad.

“Our Community Fair is a tribute to our incredible summer of celebration, and as well as fun activities for all the family, there will be many stalls staffed by community and voluntary groups from across the borough where you can find out how you can give something back to your community through volunteering.

“I’ll also be there with colleagues from the Police and Health services to answer your questions at a special Leader’s Question Time session, and we’ll also be launching Our Summer of Celebration, a souvenir booklet with photographs – many sent in by residents – as a record of this amazing summer.”

The fun activities and entertainment on offer include the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards 100ft Army assault course and, paintballing gazebo for the more adventurous, and a show of police cars through the ages for the classic car enthusiasts.

There will also be a funfair ride, arts and crafts stalls, magicians and balloon-modelling, and the more sporty can try out the static bikes and rowing machines to see if they still have a bit of Olympic energy.

Dr Bike will be on hand to give your cycles a health-check, and young families can get advice and help with the installation of child car seats from the Road Safety Team, supported by Mothercare. Residents can also find out more about Hounslow Highways, the new 25 year street maintenance contract, and the Hounslow Town Centre Master plan.

A subsidised food court will be set up in the Lampton Park Conference Centre, which will also host the Leader’s Question Time event, where residents can quiz the Leader of the Council and colleagues from the police and health services, as well as getting information on how the council and its partners aim to improve the quality of life in the borough.  Questions should be emailed to communications@hounslow.gov.uk.

The council will also be launching a special commemorative booklet featuring photographs from our Summer of Celebration. All proceeds from the booklet, which costs just 50p, will go to the Alzheimer’s Society Hounslow.
