Refugees Welcome Hounslow (RWH) is preparing to support several Afghan families who have arrived in the borough as part of the UK Government’s ARAP resettlement scheme.

The local action group, founded five years ago, has been working in partnership with Hounslow Council to welcome families, couples and single people displaced by the war and conflict.

As well as helping source accommodation, RWH gathers household items needed by the new arrivals and provides ongoing support through its befriending scheme. It matches volunteers with individual households to offer friendship and practical support, particularly with improving English language skills and with job seeking. RWH also aims to promote social inclusion, and holds regular events that bring refugees and volunteers together.

RWH is always keen to hear from potential volunteers and would like to invite anyone who is interested to its Annual General Meeting. This is taking place on Monday 15 November at 7.30pm in Isleworth.
