Do you have a favourite recipe you want to share with your friends? Is there a healthy dish your family loves that others should try? Do you want to see one of your recipes published?

The Healthy Hounslow Cookbook is being put together to celebrate the diversity of cooking in the borough, and anyone can send in a recipe to be included.

The book will be full of healthy recipes for people to enjoy, and will be printed and distributed for free across the borough.

The book is being put together by NHS Hounslow and the council to help people make healthy choices about their diet, and to help tackle childhood obesity in the borough.

Cllr Lily Bath, cabinet member for children, youth and families at the council, said: “Our child obesity rates are higher than other boroughs, so we need to find ways to tackle the problem. We want to use this cookbook as a way of encouraging a culture of being healthy – starting in the kitchen.

“As part of that, we are looking for all budding and experienced cooks out there to submit recipes to capture the great and diverse healthy cooking that is happening all over Hounslow.”

The finished cookbook will be launched later in the year, and all the recipes will be checked by a dietician to make sure they are healthy.

The cookbook will also include a list of places to eat in the borough which have received the Heartbeat Award for having healthy choices for people eating out.
