Wafer thin majority turned into one over of over twelve thousand

Ruth Cadbury has retained her seat in Brentford & Isleworth with a majority that surpassed the highest estimates of her supporters before the votes were counted.
On a night in which Labour candidates performed significantly better than expected across London, Ms Cadbury looked safe as soon as the exit poll suggested that a hung parliament was a possibility. In the event she turned a majority of just 465 into 12,182 gaining 57.4% of the vote. The pattern was very similar to that seen in the neighbouring constituency of Ealing Central and Acton where Rupa Huq also turned a tiny majority into a huge one.

Mary Macleod, who lost the seat in 2015 for the Conservatives got 23,182 votes on a catastrophic night for her party.
Mary Macleod takes defeat with a smile
The withdrawal of Diane Scott, Green Party to support Ruth Cadbury meant that over 2,000 votes should have gone to her but this would have been outweighed by the three thousand plus votes for UKIP that were widely expected to switch to the Tories.
Joe Bourke for the Liberal Democrats increased his share of the vote by one percentage point.
