The elections for the Mayor of London and the Greater London Assembly are being held on Thursday 6 May.
There are 20 candidates standing hoping to unseat the incumbent Sadiq Khan but he enjoys a substanital lead in the polls.
The Mayor of London is elected using the Supplementary Vote system. You make a first and second choice when you vote.
If no candidate gets more than 50% of the first choice votes, all except the top 2 candidates are eliminated. If your first choice candidate is eliminated, and your second choice is for one of the top 2, your second choice is counted.
London Assembly members are elected using the Additional Member system. You vote once for your constituency member and once for a London-wide representative.
There are 14 constituency members and 11 London-wide members.

This area is part of the South West London constituency which also includes the Boroughs of Kingston-upon-Thames and Richmond-on-Thames. It includes Brentford and much of Chiswick.
Tony Arbour was incumbent for over 20 years but he is retiring and not contesting the election in 2021 which was postponed due to the pandemic.

Greater London Assembly Elections (South West) 2008
Boris Johnson was the comfortable winner of the vote for Mayor in the constituency with 46% of the first choice vote. Ken Livingstone was second with 30% of the vote and the Brian Paddick only managed 13%
There were very different voting patterns in the other vote in the constituency. In the Greater London Assembly Tony Arbour retained his seat on behalf of the Conservatives for the second time.
The Liberal Democrats came second with Labour third gaining only 15% of the vote. This was a disappointment for both parties as some pundits had tipped the Lib Dems to take the seat due to their stronghold in the Richmond areas.
