Local Residents Sign Revoke Petition In Their Thousands


Almost 20,000 in Brentford & Isleworth called on government to ditch Brexit

A petitioncalling for the government to Revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU has now been signed by almost 6 million people.

A live breakdown shows how many in each paliamentary constituency have put their name to the petition.

For Brentford and Isleworth constituency (voted REMAIN 56.7%) the total number of signatures as of Wednesday (April 3rd) of 19,696 have exceeded Labour Party MP Ruth Cadbury's election majority of 12,182.

Locally, more people in Ealing Central and Acton, a Remain voting constituency which is represented by Labour Party Rupa Huq, have signed with latest figures showing nearly 23,000 (31% of the electorate) at a rate of 23 an hour.

Hammersmith (REMAIN 68.7%) where Andy Slaughter is sitting MP (Labour) had 22,400 signatures.

Top of the league comes for signatures was Bristol West (REMAIN 79.3% ) with 37,016.

The petition will be debated after breaking the 100,000 threshold for consideration and becoming the best-supported proposal in the history of the House of Commons and government’s e-petitions website.

However the government says stopping Brexit would ‘break promises’

A petition set up in opposition calling for the UK to immediately leave EU on 29 March currently stands at just less than 600,000 signatures.
