RNLI SOS Day Needs Support

Crew from Chiswick amongst those at fundraiser

On this year's RNLI SOS day, Friday 25 and Saturday 26 January, crews from Chiswick and Teddington RNLI Lifeboat Stations will once again be raising money at the Bentalls
Centre in Kingston.

This year the event will focus on how to be safe on the water. There will be exhibits about water safety with activities for kids. Stormy Stan will be there with RNLI crew members in full kit to answer questions about sea safety, the search and rescue work of RNLI Lifeboats on the Thames and at sea, (many crewmembers of the Thames Lifeboats are also volunteers at stations on the coast).

There will also be information about the RNLI Lifeguard service operated on many beaches throughout the summer. Children can have their photos taken with Stormy Stan courtesy of Snappy Snaps. There will be handouts and souvenirs and outside the entrance a beach rescue lifeguard truck with rescue surfboard. The event will be between 09:30 and 18:00 on both days.

The RNLI needs over £150m to run the search and rescue service from its 233 lifeboat stations.
The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and Government and is entirely supported by voluntary
contributions. Supporters/bucket carriers all welcome.

Chiswick RNLI Lifeboat is the second busiest in the UK and Ireland; since starting service in 2002, has attended over 2200 incidents and rescued over 1040 people.
