Watermans Wins £100,000 Funding From The Arts Council

£100 million in cuts to over 600 groups

In the latest funding cycle, Watermans has been awarded £100,000 a year by the Arts Council to continue its programme of artistic engagement. This award commences in April 2012 and continues until 2015.

This award is the result of the comprehensive review that the Arts Council has undertaken into the way it funds organisations up and down the country. It recognises the role the Arts Council expects Watermans to play in the future and will help to ensure that Watermans can continue as a permanent feature of the arts and culture landscape in West London.

This secures Watermans presence in the Arts Council’s National Portfolio so it will be well placed to benefit from future funding initiatives.

Taken together with the contracts that Watermans has just won from the London Borough of Hounslow, this means that Watermans funding directly from Central and Local government in 2012 will only fall by 20%.

Watermans is confident that with this funding now in place it is well placed to win further contracts for arts and culture services. The changing environment for funding many of the services that Watermans provides, means that in the coming months there will be many new opportunities and this award will help to provide the foundation for Watermans to grow.
