More time to comment on football ground plans
Comments are now being taken on AFC Wimbledon's plans for a new football stadium at Plough Lane until February 2.
Due to the tremendous local interest in the scheme, Merton Council has extended the consultation period by an extra two weeks.
The detailed plans on Merton Council's website show that the club wants to build a 20,000 capacity stadium, with an initial 11,000 seats.
Along with partner Galliard Homes, it plans shops, a squash and fitness club, 602 homes with basement parking, 297 car parking spaces and cycle parking.
Wimbledon Chief Executive Erik Samuelson has said that the plans are the culmination of 18 months intensive work for the club, Galliard Homes, and a team of specialist advisers.
The existing Wimbledon Stadium in Plough Lane would be demolished as part of the scheme, which would be completed in phases.
But a report commissioned by Wimbledon Park Residents' Association has claimed there could be problems with flooding, traffic and transport if AFC Wimbledon's stadium plans go ahead.
And a rival plan for the site involves expanding the greyhound stadium to a 4,500 seat area as well as building 550 new homes.

Councillor Janice Howard – Wimbledon Park ward councillor - said: "As the local ward councillors, we believe it is vital that everyone who wishes to make their views known on this extremely large and complex application has the opportunity to do so.
"Due to the huge amount of public interest in the application and the fact that the formal consultation spanned Christmas and the New Year, we have been pushing for a further 2 week extension to the consultation period. We are therefore pleased the council has now agreed to this and would encourage residents to make sure they get their comments in well in time for the new 2nd February deadline."
A public meeting aimed at Wandsworth residents is taking place from 7pm-8.30pm on Monday February 2. The venue is the Drama Hall, Burntwood School, Burntwood Lane, SW17 0AQ.
