Mark lifts trophy in one-hit Surrey competition
It was gold for Wimbledon fencer Mark Richardson in the Surrey County one-hit épée competition was held at Epsom College on Sunday (July 3).
In this competition the time limit is only 60 seconds and the first one to hit within that time wins the bout, any double hits scored do not count and if, after 1 minute, there has been no victor, the match will be called a double defeat.
There was only one Wimbledon fencer entered this year, club captain Mark Richardson (pictured right) who only lost three out of 22 bouts to take the Gardner-Buzwell trophy for the first time since he began competing in this annual event in 2008.
Wimbledon fencing club runs regular beginner courses and will be holding a Fencing Taster Session for Adults on September 14, so you can try it out for yourself.
