Wimbledon firms feature in annual business awards
Merton's top businesses joined each other for a glitzy night for the Merton Best Business Awards.
Guests at Epsom Downs Racecourse enjoyed entertainment from students at South Thames College before beginning the awards ceremony.
The evening kicked off with a new award - The Andrew Wakefield Award.
Andrew was the Chair of Merton Chamber of Commerce, who died last October.
Presenting the award, Merton Chamber CEO Diana Sterck said: "This award is part of his legacy to the community he lived in, worked in and served for many years.
"In selecting the winner the team worked to review what was important to Andrew in his role of Chair. Quite simply that was entrepreneurship, a sense of community and ability to connect people to add value to what goes on in our fabulous borough.
"We were delighted to announce that our winner is a lady who has set up and grown her business in Merton, she is someone with a great sense of community and is a natural networker in the most charming and effective way. The founder and editor of Darling Magazine, Karine Torr."
Karine Torr said: "I am incredibly honoured to be the first recipient of the Andrew Wakefield Award. It’s a humbling experience as Andrew was the epitome of 'community' and support for the institutions and businesses that make Merton so special."
