The long vacant unit by the piazza area near Kew Bridge is showing signs of life.
The premises at 8 Kew Bridge Road has been empty since the Stable restaurant closed during the pandemic.
A bar and café branded Brentford House was trading last Saturday (4 November) and welcomed fans attending the West Ham match.
It was serving a limited menu of bacon rolls, hot dogs and burgers.
Unconfirmed reports state that the venue was being operated temporarily by the Brentford FC but it is planned to fully relaunch as ‘Aussie House’ an Australian theme bar with a full menu.
An advertisement for the job of head chef at the new restaurant says that Aussie House is an Australian hospitality brand that has been operating for the last two years in London and that it is planned to spend £1million upgrading the kitchen and restaurant.
It will offer an all-day mid-price point menu, available for take-away, delivery and restaurant service including “unapologetically Australian classics” – like brunch toasts, great pies, chicken schnitzel, potato fritters, salt and pepper squid, wagyu beef burgers and BBQ chicken. The candidate for head chef would be expected to have worked in a Michelin starred environment.
The intention expressed in the job ad is to expand the brand into a chain across the UK and internationally although we haven’t been able to confirm these details directly with the new owners.
The unit is 2,000 sq ft and has 80 covers indoors, can accommodate 80 outside in good weather and has a premises licence which permits the sale of alcohol on Monday to Saturday from 11:00am until 11:30pm and on Sunday from 11:00am until 10:30pm.
