A popular café at the Verdo Kew Bridge development in Brentford has applied for a licence to extend its opening hours until 11pm, marking the latest step in the transformation of the neighbourhood around Brentford Community Stadium.

The venue, described in its application as an “upmarket cafeteria” which has been open since last year offering specialty-grade coffee, fresh food and a calm, modern setting, currently closes at 6pm each day. If approved, the new licence would allow the café to operate into the evening, with seating for 34 customers.

The operators say the extended hours would support a growing local community and provide a relaxed, high-quality space for residents to meet later in the day. They emphasise that the café’s focus will remain on premium coffee, healthy food and a comfortable environment rather than alcohol-led trade. Clear signage will be installed to remind customers to leave quietly and avoid disturbing neighbours.

The application comes as the Verdo Kew Bridge development continues to mature. Built as part of the wider regeneration surrounding Brentford Community Stadium, Verdo comprises hundreds of new flats alongside retail units, landscaped public spaces and improved pedestrian links. The development was designed to create a new residential quarter around the stadium and the revitalised stretch of Lionel Road South.

When the first residents moved in, many of the commercial units were still awaiting tenants. Over the past two years, cafés, small businesses and community-focused operators have gradually filled the spaces, helping the area develop its own identity. The arrival of new amenities has been particularly important for families and young professionals who have made Verdo their home.

With Verdo Kew Bridge still evolving and more commercial units expected to open, this application may set the tone for how late-evening hospitality is managed across the development.
