A new scheme run by The Mulberry Centre in Isleworth is to offer complementary therapists with specialised oncology training

‘The Education Centre’ is the latest initiative from the award-winning independent charity which offers support services for individuals affected by cancer.

Once therapists have completed the programme they will be able to gain insurance necessary to practice working with cancer patients.

The Mulberry Centre recognises the role complementary therapies play in enhancing the well-being of cancer patients. With the launch of its accredited oncology qualifications, it seeks to elevate standards within the complementary therapy community, ensuring therapists are adept in addressing the unique needs of individuals undergoing cancer treatment.

"Our mission at The Mulberry Centre has always been to provide comprehensive support to those affected by cancer," said Raj Athwal, Executive Director at The Mulberry Centre. "Through 'The Education Centre’, we are thrilled to offer complementary therapists the opportunity to expand their skill set and confidently provide holistic care to cancer patients, and we look forward to sharing our expertise."

The oncology qualifications cater to aromatherapists, massage therapists, and reflexologists, offering tailored courses designed to deepen their understanding of cancer care and refine their therapeutic techniques. Participants will gain insights in the integration of complementary therapies into cancer treatment plans, with the aim of fostering a supportive environment for patients, from diagnosis and throughout their treatment.

Julie Quinn, Head of Client Services added, "At The Mulberry Centre, we believe in the transformative power of complementary therapies in enhancing the quality of life for those affected by cancer.

"With our oncology qualifications, we aim to empower therapists with the knowledge and skills needed to provide compassionate care and support to individuals at every stage of their cancer journey."
