An independent cancer charity has launched its annual Christmas appeal, aiming to bring comfort and connection to people affected by cancer during what can be one of the most difficult times of year.
The Mulberry Centre, based at West Middlesex University Hospital, has unveiled its 2025 campaign, Hope Under the Tree, inviting the community to support its free services for patients, families, carers and those bereaved.
Running throughout December, the campaign is part of the Big Give Christmas Challenge, the UK’s largest match-funding initiative. From 2–9 December, every donation made to The Mulberry Centre via the Big Give platform will be doubled at no extra cost to donors, meaning contributions will have twice the impact.
Lydia Plews, Head of Fundraising and Engagement at The Mulberry Centre, said, “This Christmas, we’re asking our supporters to help bring hope under the tree for those facing the challenges of cancer. With demand for our services expected to grow in 2026, every donation, especially during Big Give Week, will make a lasting difference.”
Supporters are encouraged to take part in a range of festive activities, including:
Funds raised will help the charity continue to provide vital services such as counselling, complementary therapies, wellbeing workshops and social activities. These services are offered free of charge and are not funded by the NHS, meaning the charity relies entirely on donations, grants and fundraising initiatives.
The Mulberry Centre says every contribution, no matter the size, helps ensure that no one in the local community faces cancer alone.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets. We’ve always done that and won’t be changing, in fact we’d like to do more. However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them.
