Michael Gove's Decision on Tesco/Homebase Delayed Again
Fifth time ruling on inspector's report has been put back

Michael Gove may have to spend Christmas reviewing a local planning proposal after a decision on the Tesco and Homebase sites on Syon Lane was postponed for the fifth time.
Stakeholders, including the London Borough of Hounslow and the Osterley and Wyke Green Residents Association (OWGRA) were informed this week of the latest delay.
Gove, as Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, is responsible for reviewing the report of the Planning Inspector Mrs J A Vyse into the plans.
As recently as this August, it was announced that a decision was being put back until the beginning of November but now the Ministry is saying that it will be delayed until 4 January next year at the latest as ‘further time is required to considers this case’.
By that time, it will be almost 22 months since the public inquiry, on which the Inspector’s report is based, was opened.
The controversial plan to build 16 tower blocks of up to 17 storeys high on the sites of Tesco’s in Osterley and Homebase on Syon Lane has been criticised for being an inappropriate development in what is predominantly a low rise area.
