More Details of Tesco/Homebase Development to Be Revealed

The developer of the massive twin developments on the Tesco and Homebase sites near Syon Lane is about to hold a series of public exhibitions of its plans.
Berkeley St Edward says it wants to update the community on the progress of the twin schemes and engage on some ‘minor material’ amendments proposed for the Homebase site. The company says the latter relate to fire safety under the Building Safety Act.
A project web site has been set up which is due to have the updated details of the development later this month.

The Osterley and Wyke Green Residents’ Association understands that fliers have been sent to all households within a kilometre radius of the developments as well as local businesses and councillors.
The exhibitions are being held as follows:
• Tuesday, 16 July, 5-8.30 pm, Nishkam School
• Saturday, 20 July, 10.30am-2.30pm, Marlborough Primary School

Planning permission was granted to these projects last December following a Public Inquiry at the behest of the then Secretary of State for Levelling Up Housing and the Communities, Michael Gove. Controversially, he overrode a recommendation by the Planning Inspector not to approve the schemes.
As well as a new Tesco Extra store, the designs include up to 2,150 housing units of which 750 will be classed as affordable.
