Kew Bridge Steam Museum Appoints New Director
Project Aquarius is full steam ahead
Another key milestone in Project Aquarius has been achieved with the appointment of Penny Jenkins as the new Kew Bridge Steam Museum Director. Penny joined the Museum on 2nd February 2012 and will lead the Museum in the next crucial phase of its development.
Penny introduced herself as follows:
“I am currently sat at my new desk writing this introduction with a big smile on my face. Not because someone has just told me something funny but because I am very thrilled to have finally started in my position as Museum Director. I am still learning everyone’s names (and this may take a little while) but it was very evident from day 1 that the team are friendly, passionate about the future of KBSM and have a wealth of unique experience to share.
"Originally from Ipswich, I moved to this part of West London to attend college in 1984 where I gained a BSc and a husband to be. We have lived and raised our family here ever since so I have a good knowledge of the area which I will be using to support both the outreach and marketing strategy.
"With over 20 years’ management experience in commercial operations gained from working at both Next and Legoland I fully understand the challenges we face in the attractions marketplace.
"With Project Aquarius underway the talented volunteers and project team are already working very hard to prepare for the arrival of the contractors so it couldn’t be a more exciting time to be joining the team.
"I very much look forward to meeting all the volunteers, members and the museum guests in the near future and over the next year.”
