An 8-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a lorry in Southall this Friday (23 February).

The collision occurred shortly after 6pm on King Street. He was treated at the scene by paramedics but he died three hours later in hospital.

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and was not arrested.

Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Southall issued a statement on Instagram afterwards saying the child had been on his way to Guru Nanak Road Gurdwara adding, “This heartbreaking incident has left us all in a state of shock and grief.

“We extend our heartfelt prayers, hoping that Guru Sahib will embrace the child in his Charan and grant strength and solace to the bereaved family during this incredibly difficult period.

“Several members of our community, particularly children, witnessed this distressing event and are understandably traumatised. Recognising the need for support, the Sabha has organised a specialised counselling service to assist those affected.”

Serious Collision Investigation Unit detectives ask anyone who witnessed or caught dash cam footage of the incident, or the events leading up to it, to call 101 or post @MetCC ref CAD 5824/23FEB24.
