Ealing Wind Orchestra accepts the applause after its last Christmas performance
November 27, 2025
Ealing Wind Orchestra will return the University of West London for an evening concert of wind orchestra music.
The event on Friday 5 December will feature performers from the university and the wider Ealing community. The event begins at 7:30pm and tickets are available via this link.
Audiences can expect a varied programme showcasing the full breadth of wind orchestra repertoire, performed by a mix of students from the University of West London and local musicians.
The programme includes music from Hans Zimmer, John Williams to Percy Grainger, Leonard Bernstein and tuba solos.
The concert will take place at Weston Hall, a venue that has become the orchestra’s home since its formation.
The Ealing Wind Orchestra (EWO) is a relatively new addition to the borough’s musical life, having been founded in 2023 following popular try-out sessions at the University of West London. The group quickly attracted both students and community musicians, rehearsing weekly and building a loyal following.
The orchestra’s first public concert was held in January 2024 at Weston Hall, drawing more than 150 attendees and raising funds for the Royal Society of Musicians.: Its repertoire spans film scores, classical works, folk tunes and new commissions, reflecting its commitment to both tradition and innovation. The orchestra has collaborated with student composers from the London College of Music, premiering new works in December 2024. It has also staged fundraising concerts, including one in May 2024 where proceeds supported the Ealing Foodbank.
Director DaveGordon-Shute has guided the ensemble since its inception, emphasising inclusivity and opportunities for both seasoned players and newcomers.
