Tonight the very last series starts on More 4, what with that and poor old Warrick in CSI biting his final bullet and Gil Grissom leaving Las Vegas, this really is a rotten start to 2009. Headboard for free

Brentford school boy wins young male of the year award

Torron-Lee Dewar has won London borough of Hounslow’s  young male of the year award and best performer award for his break dancing and performances at the watermans art centre Brentford  with Alluminae Dance company. Hes pleased at  winning such a big award. Torron has been dancing from an early age and joined alluminae when he was just 11 years old he goes by the name of NEON and represents The Hounslow youth service, Torron was chosen to dance at Wembley arena in 2008 with his group combustion. Watermans puts on a show 3 times a year the next one will be Easter time where you can see neon and his dancers perform. torron would like to thank his dance teachers for helping him achieve his goals in street dance. Heathrow and the Keens

Ok first of all let me state that on this occasion at least ;-)I am not attempting to make any political capital out of my following question and I am sure somebody with far more intelligence then myself could provide the answer? My question is as follows, I believe it is still unclear if the final Heathrow decision will eventually be decided by a Parliamentary vote or delegated powers but could or would it not be possible now we have been assured that the Keens are both against expansion for them to table an Early Day Motion in Parliament? Even if the decision is made under delegated powers,by one of them publicising an Early Day Motion they would both be demonstrating their opposition and also it will add a vehicle for likeminded MP`s to show their support also as follows. "Early day motions (EDMs) are formal motions submitted for debate in the House of Commons. However, very few EDMs are actually debated. Instead, they are used for reasons such as publicising the views of individual MPs, drawing attention to specific events or campaigns, and demonstrating the extent of parliamentary support for a particular cause or point of view.An MP can add their signature to an EDM to show their support. They can also submit amendments to an existing EDM. Although the majority of EDMs are never debated, the group of EDMs known as 'prayers' may be debated. Prayers are motions to overturn Statutory Instruments (laws made by Ministers under powers deriving from Acts of Parliament). Further information on EDM procedure can be found in the Commons Information Office Factsheet "Surely we should be exploring all avenues and perhaps this could be another weapon against the proposals?

Why not boycott Heathrow?

Having witnessed scenes of mace stealing and bearded men in woolly hats being hauled away from demos in Sipson I wonder how many people getting so worked up about the third runway announcement actually participated in the consultation. I suspect most people are like me - they aren't really that keen about a third runway but know they can live with it and they are aware that they are going to be using the facility when it opens so didn't really make much of an effort to protest when there was a chance to stop the project.For those that say they are going to fight this to the end the only really effective weapon they have is a boycott of Heathrow. If there was a genuine and implacable opposition to the third runway this would soon get a groundswell of support. The fact of the matter is that for the vast majority of West Londoners the noise and pollution caused by the airport is partly offset by having easy access to a massive number of destinations on their doorstep.

HEALING

Healers will be at the London Buddhist Vihara, The Avenue, W4 1UD between 11am and 1pm on Monday, 12th, ready to welcome and give healing to anyone who turns up.  Healing helps any condition, through from stress to physical illness.  The healing takes about 20 minutes.  There is no charge made for the healing (all the healers are working on a voluntary basis, although a donation is most welcome- all donations are given to the Vihara who kindly let us use the hall for this purpose).You do not need to make an appointment or book and the maximum waiting time, if any, is 5-10 minutes.  If you want any further information before coming please give me a ring on 0788 189 6449.
