Gateshead Force A Replay in FA Cup

Gateshead 2 Brentford 2

Gateshead forced a replay at Griffin Park in ten days time with a goal in the 93rd minute

The Blue Square side had taken the lead after Lewis Price flapped a corner into his own net but an immediate reply from Carl Cort and an excellent Kevin O'Connor volley had put the Bees in front until the hosts snatched a scrambled late equaliser through Peter Winn.

In truth things could have been even worse as James Wilson hacked a ball of the goal line and Lewis Price made a good save shortly before their equaliser.

The extra fixture means that Brentford now have three home games in a week against Millwall (next Sat), Gateshead and Walsall, so start saving your pennies now.

Charlie Mac was a suprise absentee from today's squad but Ben Strevens made a first appearance as substitute. Both Marcus Bean and Ryan Dickson picked up bookings during the game.

Things could be worse - we could be one of the five league sides beaten by non-league opponents - but we could do without the extra fixture (and let's not take the result for granted). We are at least still in the hat for Sunday's third round draw.

Bees - Price, Foster, Bennett, Wilson, Dickson, Saunders (Hunt), Bean, O'Connor, Wood (Stevens), Cort, Weston.

Unused Bees - Moore, Legge, Osborne, Ferrell, Taylor

The replay will take place on Tuesday 17th November at 7.45pm at Griffin Park.
