Food Donations Sought at Brentford's Premier League Match


Collecting items for Hounslow Community Foodbox

A food collection drive has been organised for this Saturday’s (2 December) Premier League game between Brentford and Luton Town.

The community initiative is being run with club partner Utilita Giving and Hounslow Community FoodBox.

Fans attending the match are encouraged to bring food items to help those in the local community facing poverty this Christmas. Hounslow Community FoodBox provide emergency food, support and advice to people living in the London Borough of Hounslow.

If you’re unable to donate food, Utilita Giving will be accepting cash and card donations too. The money raised will be jointly donated to Hounslow Community FoodBox and Utilita Giving.

Donation boxes will be located in the Fan Hive, situated next to the Bees Superstore, and food items will be accepted up from midday until kick-off.

Members of the local community who are unable to attend the match can still donate by dropping of food items at the Bees Superstore or entrance C of the Gtech Community Stadium ahead of the match.

Fans who donate food or money at the Fan Hive between 1.45-2.45pm will have the chance to receive a small prize including supermarket vouchers by spinning the Wheel of Giving.

Food items accepted are:

• Cereals

• Tinned fruit

• Cooking oil

• Oats / porridge

• Tinned custard and rice pudding

• Tinned soup

• Tinned vegetables - sweetcorn, peas, carrots, beans

• Squash

• Tinned tomatoes

• Pulses – chickpeas, dried lentils

• Pasta and pasta sauces

• Tinned fish

• Tinned meats

• Condiments: salt, pepper, sauces, spices

• Basmati Rice

• Long life milk – esp full-fat milk

• Toilet rolls

• Tea / coffee / sugar

• Soy / oat / almond milk

Perishable food items cannot be accepted.

Head of partner services Adam Ward said, “We know that Christmas will be a challenging time for many. As a partner, we're grateful that Utilita Giving can help those in the local community by supporting with fuel costs and food.

"We know the impact our fans can have on matchdays and we’re hopeful our supporters can use this same passion to come together and help others in need.”
