Most Brentford Brides Not Choosing Church

Survey at Holiday Inn event shows 60% want alternative venue

Despite the recently reported decline in the number of people choosing to marry, future brides at the ‘East meets West’ wedding fayre, held at the Holiday Inn London - Brentford Lock, were keenly looking forward to tying the knot.

In a survey of those attending, nearly 60% of engaged women were planning the ceremony at a venue, rather than a traditional church. Unexpectedly, Brentford brides will be using the time-old traditional vows, as opposed to writing their own. Also uncovered - the average age of brides was 29 years, while future grooms averaged 32 years. Delving deeper into the circle of girlfriends, 50% said that a third of their group was already married. Interestingly, 33% of respondents were not living together with their fiancée.

Denzil Ratnam, General Manager of the hotel said: “While official numbers of couples getting married may be on the downturn, the fact that those who are marrying are looking to marry at beautiful venues is good news. The hotel is extremely popular with couples and their families; we think its our attention to detail that makes the difference to a successful day. Combined with the stunning waterfront location, the hotel is a perfect setting for romantic weddings.”

The wedding fayre provided a check list for couples, with specialist exhibitors from the east and west, covering every imaginable aspect of the special day, including great ideas from John Lewis gift services, delectable wedding cakes and mouth-watering Indian sweets from Chhappan Bhog, stunning floral arrangements, photographers to capture every moment, breath taking bridal gowns and jewellery too. Visitors also sampled delectable dishes from the weddings menus.
