Ruth Cadbury Completes Her Fourth Marathon
Brentford & Isleworth MP raising funds for two charities

Ruth Cadbury MP ran her fourth Marathon last Saturday (6 November), raising charity funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and Isleworth’s Friends of Cathja.
She completed the Thames Meander run from Kingston to Barn Elms and back. Originally she had intended to run in the London Marathon last month but was forced to withdraw due to illness.
Speaking after the race, Ms Cadbury said, ‘‘I’ve always loved the opportunity to represent causes both close to my heart, and in the local community, through my running. Although my run on Saturday was a slow time, finishing was a wonderful experience. I was delighted that despite missing the London Marathon this year, I was still able to raise money for these two great causes.
“Both Friends of Cathja and Macmillan do a huge amount to support local people and I’d like to thank everyone who supports them and has contributed to my fundraising efforts so far”.
Friends of Cathja supports people from across Hounslow suffering from enduring mental health problems. Based on the Cathja, a converted Dutch Barge moored on the Thames in Isleworth, the charity provides creative space in a safe and supported environment.
Macmillan Cancer Care supports people with cancer and their families nationally, particularly with end of life care, and helped Ruth’s sister and her family. They are there to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support to them and their loved ones.
