Hounslow Council is encouraging all eligible residents to get vaccinated ahead of the Christmas break and ensure any plans they have are protected against illness, as well as alleviating pressure on local NHS services at the busiest time of year.
Flu and Covid-19 can lead to serious illness and throw people’s plans into ruins. They can also spread quickly among family members if meeting up, which can be especially dangerous for elderly or vulnerable relatives.
Anyone can check their eligibility for the vaccines and book their appointments for Covid-19 and flu vaccinations on the respective NHS national booking sites.
In 2024/25, the following people are eligible for the Covid-19 and flu vaccine:
Covid-19
Flu
Councillor Lily Bath, Hounslow Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Public Health and Integration, said, “Getting vaccinated this side of Christmas is the best way to keep everyone safe, whatever your plans for the winter break.
“As people gather indoors in large numbers, viruses start to spread faster, leading to serious illness and putting real strain on our NHS services. This one simple step can help to avoid all of this. That’s why I recently met our brilliant Health Outreach Team to get my flu and Covid-19 vaccinations and join Hounslow’s Best Defenders.”
