Reynards Business Park Proposed Development

Does anyone know why local residents were not leafleted about the supposed public meeting held this week?  I saw a small sign pointing to a 'Reynards exhibition' at St Faiths when I went to vote yesterday but didn't know what it related to until a parent at school this morning mentioned a meeting on I think Tuesday that apparently only 4 people attended.  Enfield Road residents that I have spoken to certainly knew nothing about it.It seems that there is a proposal to develop 300(!) homes on this site behind Windmill Rd which after chatting to parents this morning, we feel is quite a scary move. Just consider the huge increase in traffic on Windmill Rd, more problems with parking and more pressure on already limited local primary and secondary schooling in Brentford.  When the Barratts Beechams development seems to be struggling to finish and fill the flats there, do we really need more new ones built?

Bike event in Boston Manor Park Saturday

Thefts of bicycles are on the increase so why not come along and get your bike marked for free on Saturday in Boston Manor Park on Saturday 2nd July between 2 and 4.  Other biky things will be going on but if you don't have a bike, can we tempt you with a cup of tea and home-made cake?  Friends of Boston Manor warming up for the Brentford Festival.

endless road works

I know that Thames Water are replacing their pipes. (I also recollect that they dug up most of Brentford a couple of years ago to do that. I guess those were different pipes. Or the wrong pipes. Or it was simply my imagination that this replacement was already done.)However, the recent spate of road works seems poorly planned and executed. There has been few warnings or advance notices - was there any notice of the current closure of Half Acre? And there is little thought about the impact of traffic - particularly at nearby junctions or adjacent traffic lights.So thank you Thames Water for making Brentford one big chaotic set of road works ... twice in 3 years.

Learning Spanish on the Forum

Did you know that if you log into the TW8 website events calandar whilst in Spain it comes up with the days and dates in Spanish?  I was just checking to see if the mini event, schedlued for Boston Manor Park on Saturday 2nd July between 2 and 4 was listed.....it is so thanks Editor.  Just trying to organise some flyers/posters now!  Spread the word please (about the event, not the learning a foreign language).

Tombola items needed for Help the Heroes

www.conservatives.com/surveyI receive emails from The Conservatives - I did receive them from Labour from time to time but never as organised as these.I imagine messages to both political parties would be similar and what gets through to them would depend on what information they actually want to hear.  Sigh.Have fun with this questionaire.  Anyone got a link to other surveys?

Cat found in Brentford - Great West Road

Hi,Is anybody missing a cat, or know somebody who is?A friend of mine has found a cat near JC Decaux on the Great West Road in Brentford.She is a small semi long haired black & white cat (with 4 white feet).  The vet thinks she is about 13.  She isn't microchipped, and wasn't wearing a collar.  Contact me if you have any info.

BAA/Everest replacement window scheme

I posted this the other day.BAA Everest window scheme is fast proving a disaster for us.A huge number of the windows are scratched.  The french door is still in the back garden as one of the two doors was missing a fortnight ago and hasn't been tracked down yet.  Taking advantage of the time it has lain in the garden meant we could check it over and the hinges are scratched.One window installed upstairs is meant for downstairs and the one downstairs is not meant to be so they have re ordered.The 'machine cut' window sill for the downstairs bay was the wrong size so a piece of wood arrived on site without the tools to cut it to size - so it split and now has to be re ordered and I haven't a clue how they will get the other one out without damaging the frame ...   ?The man had to work without scaffolding taking huge pieces of glass backwards down a ladder (lots of questions from us about this I can tell you).  The one piece of scaffolding that was ordered,over the porch, didn't have an access point so they had to climb over the top of the bars and it was installed 'under' the window ledges to our porch which has bent the UPVC sills and split the sealant.Everest was supposed to be back this week to confirm a list of the work and didn't turn up so after phone calls they are supposed to be here on Monday - I suppose that means nothing has been reordered?  Hubby suggested that they might like to forget the visit and just re order the lot.

Adoption Records 1940's

I am hoping someone may be able to offer a bit of advice. My mum was adopted in 1944 and is trying to track down her records to see if there is any correspondence or information about her still held. We know she was born in Cambridge but adopted from London and taken to Northampton, but have no idea about such things as how her adoptive parents 'found' her, or where in London she was adopted from. I know it’s a long shot but if there is any info (adoption file!) out there she would like to know. We don't know what agency was used or exactly where she was adopted from.Any help would be gratefully received.

Shortage - what shortage?

For many, many years I, and I suspect a lot of other people, have been under the impression that we have a real shortage of social housing in this borough, not to say across the country as a whole. So, it begs the question why a 3 bedroom semi with front and good size back garden is standing empty opposite my house. The previous tenant moved at Easter and some work was needed apparently, contractors came about two weeks after and kept us amused us for several days. Apart from the fact they didn't once do a full days work let alone a full week it was like watching Laurel and Hardy. If they'd have gone any slower they'd have gone backwards. Since then ne'er a soul has been near the property, what is going on with Hopeless Hounslow Homes? I though the idea was to get rent in and utilise property, shows how stupid I am, I wonder how many families there are who'd give their eye teeth for this house?When we contacted HHH about the disgraceful state of the rear access road to our home (not for the first time) which they are responsible for the moron who replied didn't even know that this was HHHs land! I despair I really do.

Bicycle thieves active in Brentford Dock estate

6/6/11 - bicycle thieves @ Brentford Dock. At around 3pm, Mohammed the security guard challenged two teenage males in baseball hats/hoodies who were roaming all the corridors of the blocks.  Hours later I came home to find the rear wheel of my Trek 7.2FX bike, which is chained to a bike stand in Otho Court, had been stolen.If you heard/saw or know anything about this, please contact PC Hawks @ Hounslow police crime ref 0513010/11 tel.02082476442Many thanks.
