The humbug of Ann Keen, MP

I choked over my breakfast muesli today when I read that Ann Keen, MP for Brentford and Isleworth, now supports reform of the MPs expenses system. Is this the same Ann Keen who has been claiming, together with her MP husband, Alan, almost forty thousand pounds a year in taxpayers' money in second homes' allowances? Strange she has suddenly decided to be pure. Is it because she was shopped by the newspapers? Perhaps she should call a public meeting here in Brentford to explain to her constituents her sudden moral conversion. (As for those who accuse me of having a rightwing agenda: not true. I don't like Etonian Dave, and voted Green, Jean Lambert, in the Euro election)

Graffiti on Windmill rd and Orchard rd

Its taken me over 3 weeks to get Hounslow Council to remove the graffiti from the railway bridge. Its taking even longer to get them to pressure the building contractor responsible for the site on Orchard rd to paint over the graffiti on the hoardings. I find this amazing given Hounslow Councils latest stunt: http://www.hounslow.gov.uk/index/news_and_events/promises/graffiti_promise.htmhttp://www.hounslow.gov.uk/index/environment_and_planning/street_care/graffiti.htmI cannot understand how a Council that places so much emphasis on its action on anti-social behaviour such as graffiti, can then proceed to drag its feet over actually getting it removed. They have increased their budget for tackling graffiti and yet, dont appear to be putting those funds to use?? This is the 3rd time that Mrs Keen has missed appointments in her constituency, due to dental problems.  I know that at least one of the appointments was on a Sunday, so does that mean her NHS dentist works on Sunday (lucky her) or has she gone private?

Just how do the Tories steal the money away from your kids education in Hounslow

THE HOUNSLOW CON JOB As most people would know the money for each school is now ring fenced so that councils can not use the money or take it away from the individual school budgets, the central government idea being that the schools can make sure via the school governing bodies that they have control of how money is being spent to improve your kids education, however it has not been long before KMPG at a cost to the TAX payer of over 4 million pounds and counting have taught our local Tories how to snatch the money back. THE TRICK This is how the great Tory con trick is done, while the school budgets are safe and ring fenced the council still controls’ the administration of the statutory provision of the education dept.What has happed in Hounslow is that this Tory junta at Hounslow have doubled and trebled the cost to the schools for the services it provides via the Education Dept so in turn the schools have to decrease the new ring fenced money they should be getting to improve your Childs education and are now paying the council more and more for the statutory services the council has to by law provide to the schools. Now you would think ahh yes but they are using this money to improve the service Hounslow provides  to the schools...The answer is in fact NO No no they have actually decreased the services of Hounslow educational dept and are cutting more and more Jobs within the council run educational dept. In turn this means with slight of hand now you see it now you don’t here's your tax gift back, and of course the denial of “oh no we haven’t” dramatics of a theatre show, that somehow the front line services have somehow improved with  far  few less staff to do the job with any creditability. Mean while your kids education is not getting the money that was meant to get. This is the very money that was to make our Hounslow schools better and improve the standards of education for your kids THE TORIES TAKE THE ROAD SHOW NATIONAL Lets take the con trick national, it worked so well in Hounslow nobody saw it coming and at the same time we fooled the people into believing we where improving services with the guff about running things more efficiently. The Tory hope is to sell this policy as giving schools more options and greater freedom from local authority control, what it really means is it opens the gates a get me rich quick companies coming in to create a market place for services one where as we have seen in this environment you don’t have a control over these companies no accountability. What happens to things like child protection one in which The Junta has cut from 4 workers down too 2 did not recent events prove anything when you have to many differing bodies dealing with issues people suffer.Of course you don’t have to take my word but next time you see your head teacher ask them if this is the case and why teacher unions are against the proposals being put forward by the Tories.

New Labour puts political self-interest before fighting racism AGAIN

We know already that Labour in Hounslow believes it is acceptable to lie to the public in pursuit of a political objective.  However a letter sent out by Ann K££n today soliciting votes for Labour at tomorrow's Euro election (they still seem to think that having her name and photo on their mailouts is a vote-winner) makes me wonder whether this organisation actually considers it compulsory for any publication it produces to contain at least one bare-faced lie.The letter outlines what it claims to be "five good reasons to vote for the Labour team" - so far, so good - then concludes that "this system (of proportional representation) makes it much easier for the fascist BNP to win a seat - and only a good Labour turnout can prevent this".Not only is this a blatant untruth (a vote for any other party will count equally against the BNP, which needs to hit a specified minimum percentage vote to win a seat) but its effect is likely to be that anti-BNP voters who can't bring themselves to vote Labour will not bother and stay at home, thereby improving the BNP's chances of taking a seat.That Labour in Hounslow is prepared, yet again, to place its own party interest above the need to stop the BNP does not come as a great surprise to those who have watched them in action over the years.  But it is no less depressing, and disgusting, for the fact.

Brentford Local History Day Saturday 6 June

An exhibition is being held on Saturday 6 June in Brentford Library from 11am to 4pm in the upstairs room.  The exhibition will be honouring the men from Brentford who lost their lives during the First World War and in particular those listed on the St Lawrence's Memorial.  The exhibition will also be about Brentford in general during those difficult times.  Memorabilia and family history will be on display and talks will be held throughout the day.  We are also delighted that Celia Cotton who hosts the fabulous website www.bhsproject.co.uk and her husband Richard will be coming all the way from their home town in Leicester to attend the exhibition.  We are sure lots of people would like to meet Celia who has carried out so much research on Brentford.Local historians and organisers Janet McNamara, David Bright and Peter King will also be available for their invaluable knowledge and insight.Please all come along, it should be a very interesting day.  Refreshments will be available too.Anyone who has any stories to tell or things that might be of interest we would be delighted to hear from you.

The Tories still looking after the TAX avoiding rich

While we the small people worry about the money in our pockets and taxes we pay with no chance to make our tax less and jail if we fail to pay, The Tories are busy in parliament at the moment trying to stop  tax revenue and customs implementing a law to close a TAX avoidance scheme used by the very very rich, The rich constantly use TAX avoidance so that they add very little value to the country and there own greed using loop holes are disgusting at a time when we must all pull together in order to get pass this world recession is truelly staggering, the Tories busy helping themselves to load up with tax avoidance while giving another image just shows the real tory is alive and kicking and not the nice cuddly image in which they want to portray themselves as.

The cost of a can of coke

I was shocked bemused and quate amazed that the cost of a regular can of coke costs 86p in Martins in the high street.  Is it me or is this excessive?  PS has gordon brown let us down?
